Learning on the Battlefield

Ultimately as Jeff says in another post, that you have to have the mindset to be a programmer. I don’t believe that a CS or IS degree is any more important than a mathematics degree. Programming requires logical thinking, which college/university course can filter out the least suitable.

One thing that I don’t think has been mentioned enough is that CS courses tend to favour Open Source software, which means zero in terms of candidate suitability in a Microsoft house.
